Spam Filters – Tips
Check the email address
It sounds silly but is easy to get wrong. First, double-check that the email address you are sending to is correct.
Check if the Quote has been opened
Check to see if the Quote has been opened by your recipient. If it hasn't, and they say they haven't received the Quote email, it's possible that it has been blocked or has ended up in their junk/spam folder.
Ensure your Quote Title is well written and friendly sounding
A good Quote Title is essential as it also becomes the subject of your emails. So make sure it's well written and avoid the use of spam-sounding words.
Common spam-sounding words
Spam filters look for common words used in a "typical" spam email, such as:
- sale
- discount
- free
- deal
- etc..
Try and limit how many of these words you use together, particularly in the subject of your emails.
Also, don't SHOUT! Avoid the use of all uppercase words.
Make sure your subject is in sentence form
Some spam filters verify the ratio of text that is in sentence form and grammatically correct. If your subject is a physical address only, it may be interpreted as gibberish, like a lot of spam is. Try adding a few descriptive words before the address, such as "House Wash Quote for 123 Sesame Street, Hamilton"
Add a few extra lines to your message
Include some human-friendly wording in the message that forms the Quote Email. Try adding one or more sentences into your default Customer Email text (see Account Settings → Emails → Customer Emails & Templates). This would improve the ratio of content that is in sentence form. It could be a standard line describing your excellent service, or business guarantee or the like.
When all else fails, you can manually send the quote
Here’s how:
- Preview the Quote
- Copy the URL from the address bar
- Paste the URL into a standard email message and send it to your customer.
